Marine Systems Engineer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Marine Systems Engineer to design, develop, and maintain essential systems for marine vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or marine engineering and experience with marine equipment, hydrodynamics, and vessel integration. This role will involve collaboration with shipyards, classification societies, and suppliers to ensure all marine systems meet operational, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Design, analyze, and optimize marine systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with naval architects and other engineers to integrate various systems into vessel designs.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct system simulations, performance testing, and troubleshooting to ensure operational readiness of marine systems.
  • Coordination: Work with shipyards, suppliers, and classification societies to ensure marine systems comply with industry regulations and project timelines.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, drawings, manuals, and reports.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs meet marine safety standards, environmental regulations, and operational requirements.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in marine systems design.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD) and simulation tools (ANSYS, CFD).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of marine systems, hydrodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials used in ship construction.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with teams, shipyards, and stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot system issues and implement efficient solutions.
  • Project Management: Experience managing marine engineering projects, including budgeting and timeline control.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with marine classification societies' regulations (Lloyd's, DNV, etc.)
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable technologies for marine systems
  • Hands-on experience with ship systems such as steering, power generation, or HVAC
