Network Engineer

NB: For this role we can only consider engineers who are already located in the Netherlands as we cannot offer relocation services.

My client is looking for a network engineer who will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the installation, maintenance, and support of network and telecommunications systems. You will play a pivotal role in resolving escalations, tackling vendor and service provider challenges, and driving technology reviews, upgrades, and change-outs. Seeing as my client is located in an industrial area, providing your own transportation methods are highly recommended.

What you will be doing on your day to day:

• Installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, WLAN, and voice issues.
• Managing network-based security hardware and resolving telecommunications issues.
• Planning, implementing, and supporting network solutions across multiple platforms and cloud environments.
• Implementing new sites, maintaining IP address schema, and updating network documentation.
• Maintaining and configuring QoS for voice, video, and data on the WAN.
• Performing proactive maintenance of network and security hardware.
• Ensuring Wi-Fi reliability through quality assessments and monitoring tools.
• Producing technical documentation to support changes and configuration management.
• Driving root cause analysis and implementing preventive action plans.
• Providing escalation support for network availability, performance, or security incidents.

Main requirements for the role:

• 5+ years of experience managing and operating data and voice networks across multiple sites.
• Possesses strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, SD-WAN, IPsec, Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing technologies.
• Holds a networking professional-level certificate (e.g., CCNA/PCNSA) or equivalent experience.
• Is experienced with Cisco & HP switches, VLANs, switching, and routing protocols (STP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• Is proficient in VoIP and SIP, QoS configuration, and managing VoIP networks.
• Has knowledge of Aruba wireless technology and Wi-Fi optimization.
• Has experience with firewalls (preferably Palo Alto) and network automation tools (preferably Ansible).
• Is experienced in designing and managing SD-WAN solutions.
• Is proficient with network troubleshooting tools (e.g., sniffer, syslog, NetFlow, TCPDUMP, Wireshark).
• Has experience with cloud networking (preferably Azure).

Your benefits are on par with the responsibilities:

• Annual salary of up to €75.000 per year (including 8% holiday allowance).
• On top, a 13^th month salary, personal development budget, bonus, pension scheme, and a commuting allowance
• 30+ holidays (25 + 15)
• Can offer you a hybrid working option with flexible working hours. Standby shifts are a part of this role.
• Starts you off with a 1 year contract, with the possibility of extension afterwards.
• Has a global presence with opportunities to work on international projects. This includes occasional travel to the United Kingdom and France.
