Summary
The Operations & Maintenance Specialist will oversee the co-satellite facilities, ensuring the provision of air as a utility to Customer sites. Responsibilities include meeting contractual performance requirements, implementing operating and maintenance procedures, and achieving safety, quality, performance, energy efficiency, and environmental goals for the site. This role will also serve as the primary contact for the Customer regarding daily operational and maintenance tasks, necessitating regular interaction and the development of positive, productive relationships with the Customer's representatives. Additionally, the Operations & Maintenance Specialist may be required to assist with construction, maintenance, and commissioning activities at all company sites as needed.
Location: Waverly, VA
Hourly rate: $30 - $37ph
Responsibilities:
* Conduct on-site and remote monitoring of the compressed air system's operation.
* Implement preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance programs.
* Ensure compliance with the company's environmental, safety, and quality assurance programs.
* Communicate with the Customer to coordinate plant production and maintenance activities.
* Schedule maintenance for instrumentation, electrical systems, compressors, dryer systems, pumps, valves, motors, and other plant equipment in line with company guidelines.
* Periodically perform system walkdowns to identify potential issues (such as minor leaks, erratic control, proper valve and condensate trap operation, unusual noises, etc.).
* Schedule preventive maintenance tasks and any necessary support labor, ensuring task completion.
* Maintain the facility to ensure it presents a clean and professional appearance.
* Respond promptly to "Call Outs" to maintain the Customer's compressed air supply.
* Maintain good working relationships with system vendors, manufacturers, and contractors.
* Follow proper management of change (MOC) protocols for set points, alarm and trip points, or other operating parameters.
* Document preventative maintenance tasks, potential safety hazards, or low inventories (e.g., water chemicals, glycol, oil, filters, etc.) as part of the weekly activity report.
* Travel to company sites as needed to support construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
Requirements:
- An Associate's Degree in a technical field is preferred.
- A solid understanding of compressed air systems service and operation, including experience with large centrifugal compressors, air dryers, instrumentation, and PLC/DCS control systems.
- Knowledge of electrical principles for the safe operation and repair of electrical equipment.
- Basic skills in mechanical system maintenance.
- Ability to use or learn various software systems used at the company's facilities, including MS Office suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with customers and vendors. - Ability to travel overnight up to 30% of the time.
Other Requirements:
- Compressed Air Systems: Demonstrated expertise in the service and operation of compressed air systems, including large centrifugal compressors, air dryers, instrumentation, and PLC/DCS control systems.
- Instrumentation and Electrical: Understanding of electrical principles in practical scenarios involving the safe operation and repair of electrical equipment.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic skills in mechanical system maintenance.
- Computer Programs: Ability to use or learn the various software systems used at the company's facilities, including the MS Office suite.
