Senior Automation Engineer

I am seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join my client's team in Bern, Switzerland. In this role, you will focus on designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain PLC-based control systems for industrial applications.
• Analyze process requirements and translate them into PLC control logic.
• Program PLCs using IEC 61131-3 languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram).
• Configure and troubleshoot HMI/SCADA systems for process monitoring and control.
• Perform integration and testing of automation systems with other equipment and control systems.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for automation systems.
• Provide technical support to production and maintenance personnel.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest PLC technologies and automation trends.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working as a PLC Automation Engineer in an industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of PLC hardware and software, including IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
• Experience with various PLC brands (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley) is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial automation concepts and protocols (e.g., Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e..g., Siemens WinCC, Wonderware) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluency in German is mandatory.
