Lead Electrical & Automation Engineer

The Role

As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, programming/configuring, testing, debugging, and commissioning control systems for solar simulators. You'll also integrate these systems into solar panel production lines. You'll manage the PLC team, taking the lead to ensure that projects meet specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.

What a Typical Day Might Include:

• Leading, mentoring, and guiding fellow PLC/control engineers
• Acting as the key link between individual engineers and the Engineering Manager
• Designing new functionalities and enhancing existing systems in the PLC of solar simulators
• Collaborating with software engineers to create user-friendly HMIs for machine control
• Providing remote (and occasionally on-site) support to the service team and customers during commissioning, updates, and troubleshooting of PLC systems
• Testing operating systems and troubleshooting alongside mechanics and engineers in production
• Travelling to customer sites to install new solar simulators (if this aligns with your interests)

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Over 5 years of experience as a (senior) PLC engineer
• Proficiency with Beckhoff (TwinCAT), Allen-Bradley, or Siemens, including programming in ST (structured text) and OOP (object-oriented programming)
• Basic knowledge of electrical measurement and troubleshooting
• Ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish
• Strong alignment with management, customer service, and sales teams
• Must be fluent in Dutch
