Our client is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead their entry into the Power-2X market. Based in Vienna, you will spearhead engineering efforts at our competence center for green hydrogen technology, plant engineering, and project execution.

Our client is looking for a seasoned professional with a strong background in electrolysis processes and extensive knowledge of engineering disciplines. You should be passionate about managing a cross-disciplinary and multinational engineering team. Your Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all engineering resources, functions, and tasks for standalone green hydrogen projects and those adjacent to renewable fuels and CO2 capture.
  • Lead local engineering disciplines, including project engineering management, process engineering, layout and piping engineering, electrical-instrumentation-automation engineering, installation, and civil engineering.
  • Manage engineering processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the engineering team in Vienna.
  • Schedule engineering tasks/resources and align them with the overall project plan.
  • Clarify, discuss, and present technical solutions to customers.
  • Act as the escalation point for customer and supplier technical design issues.
  • Align required modifications with internal product design experts.
  • Support engineering tasks relevant to your expertise.
  • Provide problem-solving and escalation support within engineering teams.
  • Develop common rules of cooperation, tools, and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Report to the leader of the green hydrogen business and the global director of engineering for P2X solutions.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in chemical, process, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience in electrolysis processes and engineering of electrolysis plants is essential.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in leading engineering roles.
  • At least five years of experience leading cross-functional teams and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to consult with customers and notified bodies about technical design requirements.
  • Skilled in explaining design solutions engagingly.
  • Experience performing acceptance tests and supervising installation and commissioning during start-up.
  • Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams through coaching, mentorship, and talent development.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and resolve interpersonal issues within the team, promoting a harmonious and collaborative work environment.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Solution-oriented with the confidence to act proactively.
  • Fluent in English; another European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel at least 5 days per month.
