We're searching for a passionate and innovative Systems Engineer to be the driving force behind my client's high-performance, secure Linux ecosystem. You'll be instrumental in shaping their digital landscape by designing, building, and optimizing their infrastructure.
What You'll Do:

- Architect and Build Robust Infrastructures: Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure Linux-based systems that can handle our growing business demands. Leverage industry best practices and automation tools to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability.
- Proactive System Maintenance: Stay ahead of potential issues by performing regular system updates, patches, and configuration changes. Utilize monitoring tools to identify and address performance bottlenecks before they impact our operations.
- Data Protection and Recovery: Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies that align with our RTO/RPO objectives. Ensure data integrity and availability by leveraging advanced technologies and automation.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with engineers across the organization to understand business requirements and design systems that meet their needs. Provide expert troubleshooting and technical support for Linux-related issues.
- Automation for Efficiency: Automate routine system administration tasks using tools like Ansible or Terraform to improve efficiency and reduce errors. Explore opportunities to automate complex processes and workflows.
Qualifications:
- Proven Track Record: 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role. A proven ability to manage complex IT environments and contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Industry Expertise: Extensive experience in alternate industries such as telco, manufacturing, aviation, or pharmaceutics. A deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and best practices.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of server infrastructure, cloud computing, SAN, NAS, DAS, storage, and distributed storage architecture. Proficiency in infrastructure such as code tooling (Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-functional technical and business teams. Proven experience influencing decision-making at various management levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Containerization and Virtualization: Experience with LXC, KVM, VMware, Proxmox, containers, and Podman.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Rust, .Net, C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Go.
- Kubernetes Expertise: Familiarity with Kubernetes Infrastructure management (Juju/MaaS/CDK, OpenShift, Foreman).
- Certifications: Linux certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification), or equivalent.
- Networking and Security: Strong knowledge of network architecture and cybersecurity. Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and other network protocols.
- ITIL Framework: Experience with ITIL processes and frameworks.
